General
Bunta is also a skilled street racer who believes that Takumi will never beat him. He is rarely (or never) seen without a cigarette and likes the sound of a carburetor. Although he owns a tofu shop, he actually dislikes tofu. He's been teaching Takumi how to drift by making him do the deliveries and can tell how he's doing by looking at the car when he's done.
Personality
Like Takumi, he looks bored and uninterested most of the time. Seeing his liking to Iketani, we guess that he was actually more like Iketani than Takumi when he was younger.
Friends and Family
The only family we see in the series is his son, Takumi. Although they don't look like they're close, we tend to believe they are. Bunta always seems to know how his son is feeling and can easily read through him. He also keeps a close watch on how his driving is.
One of Bunta's close friends is Takumi's boss, Yuichi. He has more friends he left behind when he stopped racing.
Racing
Bunta is known as the best driver on Mount Akina, but he has only been seen driving a couple of times in the series. He knows the moutain pass so well he can go through it in his dreams. His car was the AE86 Sprinter Trueno, but he then gave that to Takumi. He later gets a Subaru Impreza WRX.
