General
Bunta is Takumi's father and is a very skilled racer, probably the best in Japan. 19 years ago, he married and quit racing, opening a tofu shop instead. He's always seen either with a cigarette or drunk.
Personality
When Bunta's wife left him, he began drinking heavily. He's often so drunk that he cannot even get on his feet. Because of that, he also abusive sometimes and beats Takumi, leaving scars and bruises. Bunta doesn't seem to care about things a lot but mentioning his wife will easily anger him. Around young women, he becomes a bit of a pervert.
Family and Friends
Bunta's son is Takumi who has been doing the tofu deliveries for him. Although he beats him sometimes, he still cares for him but may not show it. He used to be married, but as mentioned, his wife left him years ago. He is also friends with Yuichi.
Racing
The AE86 that Takumi drives is actually owned by Bunta. He has fine tuned it so well that Ryosuke thinks it is perfect, bringing the car to its top performance. If Bunta kept racing, he probably would have been the best in Japan.
Differences from the Anime
- Bunta is never seen drunk nor abusive in the Anime. Takumi doesn't actually have scars or bruises on his body.
- Nothing is mentioned in the Anime about what happened to Takumi's mother. (We, the staff here, just assumed she passed away, but again, nothing is certain.)
