Tohru and Nao

When Tohru is introduced to the series, he and Nao have already been dating for 6 years with talks of marriage. Not much of this couple is shown in the series, but it's easy to see that the two care for each other very much.
In Depth
Whenever Tohru is short on money for car parts, Nao helps him out. She cares a lot for Tohru but gets tired of how much money he spends on his car. If he continues doing so, they won't be able to get married.
When Tohru asked for money for new tires to battle against Project D, Nao makes him promise her something. If he loses the race, he will give up street racing or else she will break up with him. Tohru is torn. Nao is important to him but so is street racing. In the end, he gives up street racing as promised which shows how much he cares for her. Nao is surprised by this and didn't really mean what she said back then. She was just frustrated at the time. Tohru is ok with this though. It's not like he's going to give up driving; it will just be in a different way now.
