Longer summary

Keisuke is shocked after witnessing the panda Hachi Roku do an inertia drift and wonders if what he saw was a ghost. His pride is torn up to see his FD beaten by a ten year old car.

The next morning, Takumi is woken up by a phone call from someone he didn't expect, Mogi. He met her someplace, and to "restore" their friendship, she suggested that they take a drive to the beach. Meanwhile, Iketani is researching the rumor he heard about the Hachi Roku. He finds one by a tofu shop but is still dubious about it being the fastest on Akina. He dismisses the rumor as an impossibility and is about to leave when Takumi shows up. He then realizes that that was Takumi's house.

On the way to work, Iketani informs Takumi that the car at his house was a Hachi Roku. Takumi was surprised to learn that a Trueno was also known as a Hachi Roku. At work, Itsuki finds out about the Hachi Roku and tries to convince Takumi to borrow it to watch the Speedstars and Red Suns gathering on Saturday. Takumi, of course, isn't interested.

Later that night, Iketani installs new tires to tackle the downhill on Saturday, and Keisuke is driving down Akina, looking for the Hachi Roku. He no longer cares about the Speedstars. The Hachi Roku is his new opponent.

At work, Itsuki wonders if Takumi even knows what a drift is. When Takumi explained what it was, he was just laughed at by Iketani and Itsuki. Yuichi, on the other hand, was impressed by his answer since it was the advanced answer from those who had mastered the four wheel drift. A customer then arrives, Keisuke. While his tank is being filled, he asks about the Hachi Roku, claiming that he won't let it beat him twice. Iketani is confused because he doesn't know of a Hachi Roku that could do that but then remembers the one at Takumi's house.

4AM comes around, and Takumi gets a cup of water from his dad. He places it in the cup holder and then is off to do his deliveries.

That night, Iketani gets frustrated because he isn't able to cut down his time on the downhill. He seeks help from Bunta the next day, but he is only able to tell him that technique isn't learned but aquired. Iketani tries to cut down his time again later that night until he sees an oncoming car approaching...

Notes (extra explanations)

When Itsuki asked Takumi if he knew what a drift was, they were watching a video of Tsuchiya Keiichi who is an actual professional racer. He is known as the "drift king" and supervises Initial D. Oh, and the cup of water thing will be explained a few episodes later.
